Government Artificial Intelligence Index 2024

Jordan has advanced in the Oxford Insights Government AI Readiness Index, rising to 49th place globally out of 188 countries in 2024, compared to 55th place out of 193 countries in 2023. Jordan also ranked fifth in the Arab world, surpassing Bahrain, Egypt, and Kuwait.

This progress reflects the efforts of the Jordanian government, led by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Leadership, to strengthen Jordan's position as a regional and global hub for AI. Among the pioneering initiatives highlighted in the global report is the Jordanian government's project to use AI to forecast electricity loads. This project plays a pivotal role in improving the efficiency of Jordan's energy grid, reducing reliance on traditional energy reserves, and accelerating the transition to renewable energy sources through the use of AI.
