The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, in collaboration with the Japan Digital Agency, signed a memorandum of cooperation on Tuesday in the field of digital transformation, aiming to enhance technical collaboration and expertise exchange between the two countries.
The memorandum, signed by Jordan's Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Ahmad Hanandeh, and Japan's Minister of Digital Transformation, Kono Taro, aims to strengthen cooperation opportunities in the areas of information technology, innovation, and digital transformation. The focus will be on modern digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, blockchain, cloud computing, and robotics, in addition to data-related technologies, electronic payment, digital identity, and sustainable information technology (Green IT) and smart cities.
The cooperation memorandum also aims to provide support and training for both sides in the technology field, promote innovation, digital government, and public services by exchanging best practices, participating in conferences, organizing study visits, and exchanging experts between the two countries.
Hanandeh, during the signing ceremony, emphasized the Jordanian government's commitment to enhancing partnership, collaboration, and experience sharing with the Japanese government. The goal is to benefit from their extensive experiences in the field of digital transformation to serve the common developmental interests of both countries and their friendly people. Hanandeh also affirmed the Jordanian government's continuous efforts to keep pace with the latest developments, benefit from global best practices, and seize opportunities in digital transformation and modern technologies to improve the quality of life, develop government services, and enhance Jordan's position in innovation and modern entrepreneurship, supporting sustainable development goals.
On the Japanese side, Minister Kono expressed pride in signing this agreement, stating, "I am pleased to complete the signing of a cooperation memorandum in the digital field between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Japan. I acknowledge that Jordan is promoting digital economy and entrepreneurship at the national level. Therefore, I hope that this memorandum, focusing on developing digital human resources, digital infrastructure, and related areas, will enhance the development of both countries to achieve human-centric digitization."
It is worth noting that the Japan Digital Agency works to promote digital transformation in Japan, implementing various government projects related to digital transformation, including developing digital infrastructure. Additionally, the agency works on enhancing digital security and privacy.
