Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Eng. Sami Smirat, and Mr. Mehmet Emin Okutan, Founder of the Turkish company Vivika for Strategic Innovation Consulting, signed an agreement to implement the “Jahez” program, one of the flagship projects under the National Entrepreneurship Policy (2021–2027).
The program aims to enhance the readiness of startups in Jordan for investment and growth by supporting them in developing their Minimum Viable Product (MVP) or preparing for business expansion. This will be achieved through a comprehensive package that includes training, mentorship, networking with experts, in addition to financial grants of up to USD 10,000 for each eligible startup.
Minister Smirat emphasized that signing this agreement aligns with the Economic Modernization Vision and the Ministry’s efforts to build an enabling entrepreneurial ecosystem. He noted that the program will provide an integrated environment to help startups improve their products, develop effective business plans, and strengthen their investment readiness.
He added that the program will target all entrepreneurs across the Kingdom, with a strong focus on encouraging participation from women-led startups and entrepreneurs with disabilities, reflecting the program’s commitment to inclusive economic growth. Startup selection will be based on criteria to be announced later, including clarity of the idea, feasibility, and potential for growth and expansion. Eligible startups must be Jordanian.
The program will be implemented through partnerships with business incubators and accelerators and managed by the Turkish company Vivika. It will be funded by the World Bank–financed Youth, Technology, and Jobs Project (YTJ), as part of national and international efforts to promote entrepreneurship in Jordan.
The Ministry also announced that details regarding application opening and eligibility requirements will be published soon.
