Launch of the Jordanian-Irish Innovation Task Force

The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship and the Embassy of Ireland to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan launched the Jordanian-Irish Innovation Task Force as a permanent mechanism aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in innovation, investment, education, and talent development. The initiative seeks to connect the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystems in both countries and create new opportunities for economic and technological collaboration.

The launch took place during the Jordanian-Irish Joint Working Committee meeting held in Amman, chaired by Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Eng. Sami Smeirat on the Jordanian side and Ambassador of Ireland to Jordan Marianne Bolger on the Irish side, with the participation of representatives from government entities, academic institutions, the private sector, and innovation-support organizations from both countries.

The Task Force was established through a joint initiative by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship through the Jordan Source program, the Embassy of Ireland in Jordan, and the Embassy of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in London. It will serve as a platform bringing together governments, private sector entities, universities, and innovation and investment institutions to develop partnerships and joint initiatives with tangible economic impact.

Smeirat stated that the launch of the Task Force reflects the strength of Jordanian-Irish relations and the commitment of both countries to expanding cooperation in future-oriented sectors. He noted that Jordan continues, within the framework of the Economic Modernization Vision, to strengthen the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem, accelerate digital transformation, and equip young people with future skills.

Ambassador Bolger highlighted the importance of the initiative in strengthening relations between Jordan and Ireland, noting that the Task Force will provide a practical platform for knowledge exchange, expertise sharing, and the development of sustainable partnerships between institutions in both countries.

Participants discussed opportunities for cooperation in technology, entrepreneurship, investment, education, and scientific research, as well as strengthening links among startups, investors, accelerators, and innovation centers in both countries.

The Task Force’s work is based on three main pillars: enhancing governmental and institutional cooperation, building bridges between innovation and investment ecosystems, and expanding collaboration in education, scientific research, and talent development.

Both sides agreed to continue working through specialized teams, regular meetings, and joint initiatives aimed at transforming cooperation opportunities into practical projects that support innovation and investment while creating new opportunities for youth and entrepreneurs in both countries
